The J.R. Barrington has been turning heads for over a century.

The J.R. Barrington was originally constructed by the George N. Pierce Company, a manufacturer of bicycles, motorettes and automobiles. The original architects were students of the Beaux-Arts style of architecture, known for rich, lavish details and highly decorated facades.

In the 1930s, the Mendelson Furniture Company bought the building, using it as an impressive showroom for 40 years before selling to jeweler Sid Birzon in the 1970s. In the early 2000s, the “Birzon Building” became the J.R. Barrington, home to some of Buffalo’s finest residential and commercial spaces.

Each apartment at the JR Barrington is furnished with a new stainless steel refrigerator, electric (gas) stove, dishwasher, microwave and garbage disposal.


Each tenant at The JR Barrington will be provided with a swipe card (fob) for access into the building. Once inside you will use your key to open and lock your actual unit. The JR Barrington is equipped with cameras at the main entrances of the building. All security cameras are recorded. Additionally, we offer a 24/7 emergency maintenance line.


Yes, all tenants are provided with access to the Priam Property Management 24-hour emergency service telephone line at (716) 580-3136. Tenants should call this number immediately in the event of no heat, plumbing overflows or leaks, lockouts or any other situations that could cause personal harm and/or damage to building.
